Purchase of Library Materials
Metropolitan Center Library Grants are open to libraries outside Japan. Books and other research materials are considered essential to the advancement of knowledge, so a high priority is given to research libraries with professional staff that are accessible to a large number of scholars.

General Instructions
For libraries outside Japan:
• Funding is for purchase of basic research materials (excluding subscriptions to periodicals) on subjects within the field of East Asian arts.
• Purchases will ordinarily not exceed $5,000 and will not be awarded to the same library in two successive years.
• Applicants must provide a list of titles and prices of intended acquisitions.

Timeline
Applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm, December 31, Japan Standard Time (JST).
Letters are mailed out announcing grant awards around April 15 and funds are forwarded on June 1.

Completed application forms should be uploaded by the deadline via the secure link found on the application form. Applicants may also contact the administrator at applications[at]metcenter-grants.net to receive the link via email. Please do not email your application.
